Chicken Corndog Blue
October 29, 2008
Miranda is a more adventurous eater than I give her credit for. She was reading the school lunch calendar and she was excited to tell us they were having Chicken Corndog Blue tomorrow! Yay!
Rob and Sarah: What?
Miranda: Chicken Corndog Blue
Rob and Sarah: I think that's Chicken Cordon Bleu
Miranda: Oh, is that a corndog?
She did end up trying the Chicken Cordon Bleu and liked it. I tried to also explain how Corbin Bleu makes me think of Chicken Cordon Bleu, but she was unimpressed.

Bella today, in her Halloween sleeper.

Miranda wore a brown and pink dress, Bella wore a brown and pink bodysuit. It was kismet.

Henry in a moment of joy at being a big brother. He was very excited to hold the bottle after her bath last night.

Happy Anniversary Mom and Dad! 35 years down, 35 to go?

Miranda and Henry are teaching Arabella to read.

Pumpkin Farm Fun

Proof that Bella does make noise.

She weighed 9 lb 8 oz today!

It has been a flurry of days relatively uncelebrated. Oct 9: Happy 1 month for Arabella. Oct 10th: Happy Anniversary B&K, 10 years! woo! Oct 11: Happy Birthday L! And Oct 13: Happy Birthday B!
Here she is at 1 month:

(In years to come, it will be so hard to date photos of Arabella thanks to the dated fabric on this super-handy chair.)
8 lb 1 oz , 20 inches long
How does she compare? Check it out.
She peeks. She sleeps. She cries very loudly for very brief moments, like at diaper time. She eats.
We've realized that Arabella has a lot of clothes. Perhaps, dare I say, too many? And I'm trying to get her at least a day (an hour) in some of my favorite outfits. Froggy Madness:

Tomorrow Arabella will be a month old. I'll weigh her and measure her and see how she grows. The chubby thighs and straining newborn diapers suggest she is growing well.

There is some sleep. She might want to sleep more than me. I awake with a start at 1 am, sure she is dying of hunger or boredom. Rarely either. She may shock me by sleeping from 11 until 5 one of these days. Now if only I were sleeping the whole time she slept at night. My sleep is dreamless and I fall asleep instantly. If sleep is our time to record memories, to grow, to digest, to recharge, I think I am doing a less than stellar job. Like a NiMH battery that needs to be fully drained to take a new charge. Hmmm, that may be a bad analogy. Or perfect. If I slept more, I might know.
For posterity's sake ('cause we all know posterity has a wicked sense of humor) Henry has now suggested that Arabella better watch out for the 1) Cats, 2) Robots, and 3) Giants who are coming to eat her. How very Greek myth to have your infant rival eaten. He has admitted he loves Bella, but he also doesn't like her much. One day when my mom was holding Bella, he crawled all over me like a puppy (too Greek myth to use my second analogy frisky teen). He needed a good tickle and some wrestling.
Miranda seems to have taken to having another sibling with ease. Or at least her tantrums seem random and her sock woes have little to do with her sister. She probably needs a good tickle as well.
And so says me on the eve of a month.
