Join the Chorus
December 21, 2006
I feel I must join the chorus of ooh's and aah's--the name has been revealed. And it is Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.
I was just thinking how dark it was--and then I remembered--it is the longest night of the year. Of course, the fact that it rained all day and that the kids are playing theatre-style TV viewing in the living room probably contributes to the darkness on my brain.
Yes to Mess? I Heart Penelope Green.
And to my wet and cold loved one watching the Packers live...I hope you don't get pneumonia.
Stay out of trouble
December 20, 2006
Yesterday, at child care, Henry told one of the care providers to "stay out of trouble" when she left the room. He is talking all the time now. I say this not like, 'gee, isn't it nice that Henry has started talking?" but HE TALKS ALL THE TIME. And I understand him better than other people. I don't translate too often, but at times, his context is clearer to me than to other people. Most conversations still involve pirates or monkeys. He has learned to repeat anything and everything, which means he probably really said "be good" to the departing teacher. I say this when someone leaves, usually without thinking about it. And he seems to have picked it up.
He also sings. And dances. I think 2007 is going to be wild.
And we're off, racing down the homestretch
December 17, 2006
We had a delightful start to Chanukah. We have lit the candles all 3 nights and I fully expect us to continue for all 8 nights. We had a cool dinner party Friday night and the kids were so good we stayed 2 hours longer than I planned.
I am wrapping presents. Have to say, bought far more books than I thought, planned or intended.
I resisted buying both the Post Secret book or the Thirteenth Tale. Someday... or not.
We decorated cookies on Saturday. Thanks P&N for a fab time.

View all of our crazy cookie decorating glee here.
What's that you say?

Two for the people at WH working so very hard

This is actually Halloween at the Museum. Nice of them to put the animals
in raincoats. Not very effective as costumes, though.

I Want Candy
December 6, 2006
St Nick came. There was much excitement. Miranda got a harmonica, recorder and pencil sharpener. Henry got some cars and a bell. And they both got a sockful of candy. Henry has no events on Wednesdays (except for the zoo class I missed in my haste to stay home and do nothing. If Sharpie on the calendar isn't enough, I ask you , what is? What is?)
Henry ate candy in the morning. He is not good at removing wrappers and I didn't help him, so he didn't eat it as as much as he held pieces of candy in his hands all morning. Candy in the right and a pirate in the left. Could anything be sweeter?
When we picked Miranda up from school, I brought her a piece or two of candy for a snack. Henry was holding a piece, contentedly.
"I like candy. Today is my biwrt-day," he said.
"No, it isn't," Miranda and I said.
"I lwove candy," he said.
Jolly Ol' St Nicholas
December 5, 2006
I think he'll be visiting tonight. I should more firmly root a date for this holiday in my head. Does he come on the 5th? 6th? 7th? Good thing I don't have to plan this stuff.
And Rob feared I'd never post again

Despite the collective gasp at finishing (dishonorably, I'm afraid) NaBloPoMo, the internet has not fallen silent.
As I don't qualify for the success button. I made my own:

Break it down. Picture time.

Miranda caught a little fish this summer.
And holy Flashback Friday Batman, Rob caught the same fish in 1984.

Look how much it grew in 20 years!. By the time Miranda has a 6 year old, we can eat it.
Many thanks to S for access to the pictures.
